VIENNA, April 22, 2013 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas will pay an official two-day visit to Austria on April 29 at the invitation of Austrian President Heinz Fischer, Palestine’s ambassador to Austria Zuhair al-Wazir and a statement by Fischer’s office said Monday.
Wazir said Abbas will hold official talks with the Austrian president and other officials.
He praised Palestinian-Austrian relations and Austria’s support for the Palestinian people and leadership, particularly its support for Palestine becoming a full member of the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and its support for becoming an observer state in the UN General Assembly.
Austria has also upgraded the Palestinian diplomatic status in Vienna to mission.
Abbas visited Austria in March 2006 and in November 2011.
