Abbas will meet Israeli vice PM on Sunday

President Mahmoud Abbas will meet Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Shaul Mofaz in Ramallah on Sunday. But the talks will not entail negotiations, PLO chief negotiater Saeb Erekat said Thursday.

Erekat said he does not want to raise expectations from the meeting, which he stressed will not be negotiations. He said it is known in Israel that negotiations are the responsibility of its prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, or a team he names.

Erekat said Mofaz has asked for a meeting with Abbas after he was elected to head Kadima party, but that he renewed his request after he joined the Israeli government and became deputy prime minister. He said the Palestinians do not know what Mofaz will say at the meeting, but that they have a lot to tell him.
