RAMALLAH, December 11, 2014 (WAFA) – The Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Didier Reynders Thursday expressed grave concern at the continued deterioration of the situation in the Palestinian territories.
He called for all possible efforts to alleviate the tension and stressed the need to avoid any actions likely to further exacerbate the situation.
Reynders offered his condolences to the family of Abu Ein, the Palestinian people and the Palestinian Authority.
He said that the circumstances in which this dramatic event occurred are troubling. Reynders called for the conduct of an independent and strictly impartial investigation to determine the exact causes of Abu Ein’s death.
“This event tragically highlights the seriousness of the current situation and the urgency to do everything possible to break this cycle of violence, resume dialogue and resume peace negotiations to finally lead to the emergence of two independent, sovereign and viable states, living side by side in peace and security,” Reynders said.
