RAMALLAH, June 24, 2014 (WAFA) – Council of ministers condemned, during its weekly meeting Tuesday, the recent Israeli ongoing aggression and the Israeli ‘collective punishment’ against the Palestinian people.
The council also condemned the Israeli massive aggression, which led to the killing of six Palestinians and the arrest of hundreds, including members of the Palestinian Legislative Council and many ex-detainees.
The cabinet also condemned the rise in administrative detention orders against Palestinian prisoners, the nonstop raids on Palestinian vulnerable communities and on universities, as well as condemned Israel’s tightened noose and the launching of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, the council called upon the high contracting parties to the Geneva Conventions to hold an emergency meeting and form an investigative committee to address the Israeli military campaign and collective punishment against the Palestinians, in addition to Israeli violations against the rights of prisoners.
The council expressed support to the Palestinian leadership in its call for a prompt UN Security Council session to prosecute Israel for committing violations of the international humanitarian law and international conventions.
The council further underscored its ongoing efforts to put an end to the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and the prisoners, noting to the deteriorating health conditions of the hunger striking detainees who currently suffer severe health conditions, warning the international community that the issue of hunger striking prisoners could drag the region into violence.
It considered the Knesset bill to force-feed the Palestinian hunger striking prisoners a “permission” to the Israel Prisoner Service to “kill” more of them, calling upon parliaments around the world to intervene and denounce such an ‘inhumane’ practice.
