Dozens Suffocate, One Injured during Clashes with Israeli Army near Ramallah

RAMALLAH, April 16, 2015 (WAFA) – Dozens of Palestinians suffocated Thursday and another was shot and injured during clashes with Israeli forces in front of Ofer detention center near Ramallah.

On the occasion of Palestinian Prisoner’s (Detainee) Day, Palestinians rallied in support of Palestinian detainees held in Israeli prisons, starting from Beitunia towards the Israeli detention center which regularly witnesses demonstration and clashes with the army.

Israeli forces fired rubber-coated steel bullets, concussion bombs and tear gas canisters at rallying protestors who responded by throwing stones at military forces.

Dozens of protestors suffered from inhaling excessive tear gas, witnesses told WAFA, and another was shot and injured.

The rally is a means for Palestinians to voice their anger at the conditions of Palestinian detainees held in Israeli prisons.
