Egypt Opens Rafah Crossing with Gaza for 4 Days on Monday

CAIRO, August 15, 2015 (WAFA) – The Egyptian authorities said Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza will be open for four days starting from Monday the 17th, The Palestinian Embassy in Cairo said in a statement issued on Saturday.

They said the crossing, the only practical way in or out for Gaza’s 1.7 million residents, will be open in both directions from Monday through Thursday following intensive calls by president Mahmoud abbas with the Egyptian side.

The Embassy expressed gratitude for the Egyptian leadership and relevant sides’ relentless efforts to help alleviate the suffering of Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Israel imposed a tightened blockade on the strip since 2007 after Hamas won the democratic legislative elections and took over power in the strip.
