Foreign Ministry Calls for Sanctions on Israel to End Land Grab

RAMALLAH, February 12, 2015 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thursday called on the international community to impose sanctions on Israel to end the ongoing takeover of the Palestine’s land.

The Foreign Ministry condemned in a press release “the latest serious escalation by the Israeli government in the occupied Palestinian Territory, particularly the military operations and raids across Hebron, Jerusalem and Jenin.”

These include military orders to take over more than 2,000 dunums of land belonging to Ash-Shuyukh town to the northeast of Hebron, and homes’ demolition, assaults and arbitrary arrest, it said in a press release.

The Foreign Ministry held the Israeli government fully responsible for the consequences of its ongoing and systematic aggression against the Palestinian people and property. It confirmed that such illegal practices constitute an organized state’s terror and persistence for the Israeli government’s mentality of piracy taking the form of withholding the tax revenues.

The ministry deplored the international community’s silence and inaction, requesting it to take effective measures and impose sanctions that would deter Israel and force it to adhere to international humanitarian and human rights law and implement the four Geneva Conventions in the occupied Palestinian Territory.

The international community’s inaction compels us to accede to the United Nations human rights and legal organizations and the International Criminal Court (ICC) to hold Israeli leaders accountable for their ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people, concluded the ministry.
