Foreign Ministry says Israeli Army Drills Provoke Chaos

RAMALLAH, March 2, 2015 (WAFA) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned in a statement a recent Israeli surprise military training which took place in the southern West Bank last Sunday.

The Ministry said the military drills, which saw more than 13,000 Israeli army reservists called up for training on kidnapping scenarios and suppression of demonstrations, came as part of a series of violations aiming to provoke a new round of tensions with the Palestinians.

These violations include settlement construction and expansion, confiscation of lands, withdrawal of identity cards, withholding of tax revenues, as well as many others, the statement said.

On Sunday the Israeli army called up more than 13,000 reservists and held urgent training exercises in the West Bank, in what Israeli media outlets said was in preparation of possible escalation with the Palestinians.

Media sources said the surprise training was to test reservists’ alertness and to prepare for the possibility of a possible escalation in the West Bank.
