TULKAREM, November 23, 2015 (WAFA) – Four Palestinians Monday afternoon were shot and injured by Israeli forces in renewed clashes in a university to the west of the northern West Bank city of Tulkarem.
WAFA correspondent said Israeli forces opened fire on students at the campus of Palestine Technical University Kadoorie, injuring four Palestinians with rubber-coated steel bullets in their lower body parts.
Forces also fired tear gas canisters at students who marched in protest of ongoing Israeli military encroachment upon their university campus, causing dozens to suffer from excessive tear gas inhalation.
The four students were rushed into into a Tulkarem hospital for medical treatment, while the other suffocation cases were treated at the scene.
The university campus, which is located just close to the 1967 border with Israel, has been witnessing flaring clashes between Israeli forces and students during the past few days.
According to the university’s public relations department, tension has been running high at the campus due to Israeli forces’ continuous attempts to take over part of the campus’ land for the benefit of expanding a nearby Israeli military training base.
