Gaza Youth Protest Ongoing Israeli Naval Blockade

GAZA, January 15, 2015 (WAFA) – Dozens of youth in the Gaza Strip Thursday marched along the seaport of Gaza city to protest the ongoing Israeli blockade imposed on the coastal enclave.

The protesters called for ending the Israeli naval blockade and establishing a seaport to allow safe entry and exit of commodities and individuals.

The Gaza Strip has been under a tight Israeli naval, land, and aerial blockade for eight years, since the Hamas won the 2006 parliamentary elections.

Israel, taking firm control over three major checkpoints with Gaza borders, prohibits the entry of hundreds of basic materials, including food items, construction materials, medical supplies, and pharmaceuticals.
