Government to Localize Medical Referrals, Says Hamdallah

JERICHO, February 23, 2014 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah said on Sunday the Palestinian government is committed to boosting the development of the health care and medical sector, a precedent that would localize medical referrals and meet the increasing demand on health care services.

Hamdallah’s remarks came during the opening of the First Arab German Conference on Medicine on behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas.

The opening was attended by Minister of Health, Jawad Awwad, head of the Arab German Medical Society, Ali Ma’rouf, as well as other eminent figures and celebrities.

Hamdallah said localizing medical referrals may be attained though equipping the health centers with the needed expertise that is based on professional and modern practices.

“Having this elite of medical doctors and consultants in this conference is a message of solidarity and support of the Palestinian people and their just issue”, said Hamdallah.

“This would give the public health centers and their personnel more expertise, in line with the government’s efforts to improve the services provided to the palestinian people, including all rural areas and those affected by the segration wall and settlements”, he added.

Hamdallah expressed his gratitude to the delegation for their visit which represents their support of the Palestinian issue and the people of Palestine in spite of the Israeli obstacles affecting the work of medical teams in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

To be noted, the third Palestinian conference on dermatology was launched on Sunday in the city of Jericho and is expected to continue until next April.
