JEDDAH, August 12, 2014 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah called on Tuesday upon the Islamic Cooperation Council (ICC) countries to immediately intervene to stop the Israeli war crimes and state terrorism.
During his speech before the ICC’s executive committee meeting in Jeddah, Hamdallah called upon the member countries to provide the Gaza Strip with the needed humanitarian and medical aids, including food and medical drugs, and to act to get electricity back to battered Gaza, as well as to receive the wounded people and provide them with medical treatment.
Moreover, Hamdallah called upon the member states to immediately act and take concrete steps so as to protect the Palestinian people and allow international humanitarian law to take effect, through exploiting the available potential.
“This situation and the exacerbating humanitarian suffering of our people are no longer tolerable. Israel, the occupying power, is still nurturing hatred and animosity against our Palestinian people,” said Hamdallah.
“Even more, a right-wing rabbi from an [Israeli] settlement has issued religious ‘fatwas’ allowing extermination and full destruction of the Gaza Strip, under a decision by the Israeli leadership.”
He further called upon the attending representatives to ensure all possible logistic and political support to the Palestinian leadership in its international action, including the implementation of the UN Human Rights Council’s recent resolution, which recommended an international investigation committee to be formed so as to document the Israeli war crimes, and hold Israeli accountable for them.
Hamdallah also called for an end to Israel’s grave violations of human rights – its practice of state terrorism, settlers’ terrorism, the collective punishment policy, as well as the lethal, indiscriminate and excessive use of force by Israel, against innocent civilians – under Articles 146 and 147 of the Fourth Geneva Convention.
The Prime Minister said Israel’s main targets in its aggression lie in “undermining the Palestinian national consensus government, separating Gaza from Palestine, and steering a “blow” at the Palestine Liberation Organization’s representative role.
“Now is the time to put an end to the Israeli occupation and to stop its violations against our land, and against our natural right of freedom and safe living, as all nations across the globe.”
