International Conference to be Held in Budapest in Support of Palestinian Prisoners

RAMALLAH, June 5, 2014 – (WAFA) – In cooperation with the General Union of Palestinian Communities in Europe and Palestinian Prisoner Club, Ministry of Prisoners’ Affairs will hold Friday an international conference on Palestinian prisoners detained in Israeli prisons in Budapest.

Among the invitees to the three-day conference are Ex-Minister of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Qaraqeʻ, Deputy Minister of Prisoners’ Affairs Ziad Abu ‘Ein, Head of Prisner Club Qaddoura Fares along with representatives of worldwide human rights organizations and activists.

The Palestinian hunger-striking prisoners will feature as the top key-issue on the conference’s agenda among other issues, including the legal dimension of Palestinian prisoners issue, Israeli legislation that violate human rights conventions, as well as exploring mechanisms necessary to provide legal and humanitarian protection to prisoners.

The conference comes as part of Palestinian attempts to internationalize the prisoners issue and appeal to the public opinion in Europe and all over the world to intervene to bring the Israeli actions, in violation of Geneva Accords, to an end.
