JERUSALEM, December 30, 2014 (WAFA) – The Israeli authorities Tuesday demolished three Palestinian owned homes and a stall in Jerusalem, according to witnesses.
They said a staff from the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem accompanied by Israeli police and heavy machinery broke into the neighborhood of Jabal al-Mukabir and proceeded to demolish two homes under the pretext they were build without permission.
A few hours later, police and heavy machinery demolished another house, currently under construction, under the same pretexts. The Israeli bulldozers also demolished a stall that was used for selling light snacks.
The authorities impose unreasonable fees in case a permit is issued, for which Jerusalemites tend to evade red tape pertaining to permission procedures.
Since 2004, Israel has demolished hundreds of houses on unpermitted construction grounds, reportsB’Tselem.
Unlike Jewish migrants who enjoy a variety of legal rights and unlimited facilities with regard to construction, indigenous Palestinian residents of the city always find themselves compelled to even demolish their homes upon Israeli notice and seek a house rental instead.
