Israel to Demolish Residential Tents, Animal Barn near Hebron

HEBRON, April 21, 2015 (WAFA) – The Israeli authorities Tuesday notified a local resident of Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, of their intent to demolish his private-owned residential tents and an animal barn, according to local sources.

Rateb Jabour, of the Anti-Settlement Committee in Hebron, said an Israeli army force stormed the village and handed Jabrin Abu Arram, a local resident, a military order to demolish two residential tents; an order if implemented would displace him and his 10 family members. The notice also included an order to demolish Abu Arram’s animal barn.

Masafer Yatta, a collection of almost 19 hamlets south of Hebron, relies heavily on animal husbandry as the main source of livelihood, and is a frequent target of recurrent Israeli assaults.

Located in Area C of the West Bank under full Israeli administrative and military control, the area has been subject to repeated Israeli violations by settlers and army soldiers targeting their main source of living: livestock.

Issuance of construction permits for Palestinians living in Area C, under full Israeli administrative and military control, is strictly limited, forcing Palestinians residing in such areas to embark on construction without obtaining a permit.
