JENIN, September 25, 2014 – (WAFA) – The Israeli occupation authorities decided to close al-Jalama checkpoint for three days as of Thursday under the pretext of celebrating the two-day Jewish New Year holiday.
As a result of this decision, Palestinians from the occupied West Bank and those living in Israel will be denied access to Israel and the West Bank respectively. The checkpoint will be reopened on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The Al-Jalama checkpoint separates between the occupied West Bank and Israel and is located near Al- Jalama village to the north of Jenin.
The Israeli forces enlarged the checkpoint and installed additional security gate on Palestinian-owned land seized from Al-Jalama residents.
According to POICA, the checkpoint is divided into three divisions; the first division is used to house a military camp with its associated observation towers and military hardware. The second division is used for processing Palestinian workers to enter into Israel. The third division is used as a trade port between the West Bank and Israel.
