HEBRON, March 7, 2015 (WAFA) – Israeli soldiers Saturday suppressed a peace rally protesting Israel’s illegal plans to annex Palestinian-owned land near Khirbet al-Adra, a locale to the south of Hebron, according to WAFA correspondent.
Forces, accompanied by settlers, attacked the rally with clubs and the butts of their rifles, while using foul and racist statements against them, and prevented them from accessing the land.
However, protesters managed to plant dozens of olive saplings as well as raised the Palestinian flag at the gate leading to the nearby illegal Israeli settlement of Maon, where they engaged in a scuffle with forces and settlers.
Coordinator of the popular resistance committees in southern Hebron, Rateb al-Jabour was injured during the incident; he sustained injuries and bruises throughout his body.
Following the incident, forces arrested anti-settlement activist Nasr al-Nawaja’a under the pretext of coming too close to the settlement of Maon; he was released several hours later. His ID card and mobile phone, however, were confiscated.
