Israeli Forces Threaten to Close Greengrocer Market near Nablus

Nablus

NABLUS, September 2, 2014 – (WAFA) – Israeli forces threatened Tuesday to close the main greengrocer market in Beita to the southeast of Nablus, said a municipal source.

Israeli forces raided Beita early morning, closing the sole entrance and denying greengrocers, traders and trucks access into it, according to the village mayor Othman Dweikat.

Due to its proximity to notoriously extreme and violent illegal Israeli settlements of Yitzhar and Bracha, it has been a frequent spot of settlers’ violence and Palestinian clashes with the Israeli forces.

Settlers frequently attack the villages, prevent farmers from reaching their land, chop down and vandalize local olive trees.
