“Israeli military violence happens every day”

In a comment published in Berlingske Tidende Dana Golan, Executive Director of Breaking the Silence share her own experince with violence in the IDF forces. Dana Golan Writes “The president, the Prime Minister and Chief of Staff said that the violent act was an exception to normal behavior in the military. However what the Danish activist experienced happens every day in the occupied, Palestinian territories. Soldiers who served in the occupied territories know that this is not an unusual behavior for an officer – it is just another example of the practical aspects of the occupation”

Breaking the Silence is an organization of veteran combatants who have served in the Israeli military since the start of the Second Intifada and have taken it upon themselves to expose the Israeli public to the reality of everyday life in the Occupied Territories. We endeavor to stimulate public debate about the price paid for a reality in which young soldiers face a civilian population on a daily basis, and are engaged in the control of that population’s everyday life.
