Israeli Navy Opens Fire at Gaza Coast, Breaches 72-Hour Ceasefire

Palestinian Authority To Seek UN Recognition

GAZA, August 12, 2014 (WAFA) – The Israeli navy on Tuesday opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off Gaza coasts, breaching the 72-hour declared ceasefire which started at midnight Monday.

WAFA correspondent said an Israeli naval boat opened fire towards Palestinian private-owned fishing boats off Gaza and Rafah coasts, yet no casualties were reported.

He added that an Israeli reconnaissance aircraft fired a missile at the Marine Club, located on western Gaza beach, causing financial damages, but no casualties were reported.

A fisherman reported that while the fishermen were fishing off Rafah and Khan Younes coasts, the Israeli navy opened fire at them at a 100-meter distance, and ordered them via loudspeakers to evacuate the area.
