Israeli Police Assault Arab Journalist

RAMALLAH, June 12, 2014 (WAFA) – Israeli police Thursday assaulted and severely beat up an Arab activist, who is also a journalist, at a checkpoint in the West Bank and prevented her from crossing, according to the activist.

Activist Sabreen Diab said she was attempting to cross through al-Jalamah border crossing with the West Bank when an Israeli policewoman began using foul language against her, for no apparent reason, assaulted her and severely hit her in the chest with the rifle butt, causing her severe pains.

She said a number of soldiers surrounded her car and order her to drive back without even checking her identity card.

Diab said she was on her way to attend a “Sit in” in Nablus in solidarity with hunger striker prisoners.
