Newspaper Review: Dog Unleashed to Attack Palestinian Child Focus of Dailies

RAMALLAH, March 3, 2015 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Tuesday issue on a recently released video footage, which showed Israeli soldiers threatening a Palestinian child by allowing two dogs to attack him.

Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said Jewish organizations called upon their followers to break into al-Aqsa Mosque on Tuesday to perform religious rituals, marking the Jewish Purim holiday.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted the Chairman of the Prisoners’ Affairs Committee, Issa Qaraqe, who said that the Palestinian prisoners, held in Israeli jails, are due to start protesting steps against a set of violations by the Israeli Prison Authority as of March 10.

Al-Quds highlighted remarks made by United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Robert Serry, who was infuriated by the international community’s lack of action towards the reconstruction of war-torn Gaza.

Al-Ayyam said Serry called for a long-term ceasefire in Gaza, allowing a prolonged reconstruction process.

It said the European Union is currently acting towards reactivating the role of the Middle East Quartet towards a solution of the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Al-Ayyam said the Israeli army Monday quelled two peaceful demonstrations, which were organized by activists in Bethlehem and Hebron against settlement activities.

In another subject, it said the United States administration denied it was going to scale back its military support to Israel.
