RAMALLAH, September 1, 2013 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies Sunday highlighted US President Barack Obama’s decision to strike Syria which resurfaced after announcing that he will strike Syria but after seeking congressional authorization.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida’s front page headline read: “Obama decides to hit Syria after 9 September”.
Al-Quds said that Syrians are living while awaiting the war and Obama will strike Syria but after the congress gives authorization when it returns to Washington in September.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Quds printed photos of protests taking place in Sydney and Washington against the launch of a military strike against Syria.
Al-Ayyam reported on the United Nations inspectors, who were sent to investigate claims that the Syrian regime has used chemical weapons against Syrians, saying that they will issue their report after tests are complete.
Al-Quds featured the Russian President Vladimir Putin saying that it is “utter nonsense” to claim that the Syrian government has used chemical weapons.
Regarding the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations, al-Quds quoted a Palestinian diplomat saying that the negotiations are so difficult due to Israel’s insistence to impose its own vision as well as the absence of an genuine US participation.
It highlighted the death of 19-year-old Kareem Abu Sbeih from Jenin refugee camp from wounds sustained 10 days ago in clashes that erupted with Israeli forces upon raiding the camp.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida printed a photo of the funeral in Jenin in which thousands of Palestinians participated.
