RAMALLAH, February 15, 2015 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies Sunday quoted President Mahmoud Abbas during an interview with the Chilean daily Tercera, where he stressed that “Israel must recognize it has to pay a price for maintaining the occupation.”
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said the Israeli authorities ordered to continue with the closure and seizure of more than 400 dunums of Palestinian lands in the West Bank for settlement expansion activities.
Al-Ayyam quoted Israeli Minister of Foreign Avigdor Lieberman, who said that a new round of fighting between Israel and Hamas is only “a matter of time.”
Lieberman said Israel should launch a military operation against its “enemies” every two years, Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said more than 700 creative professionals living in the United Kingdom – including writers, visual artists, actors, musicians and many others –pledged to boycott collaboration with Israel-funded projects.
Meanwhile, the two dailies said that 2648 Palestinians have been killed during the ongoing crises in Syria.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said the Palestinian Foreign Ministry asked for Palestinian investigators to be involved in a probe into the killing of three Muslim Americans last Wednesday in North Carolina. Two of them were Palestinians, while the third was Syrian. The incident was reportedly a hate crime due to the victims’ religion.
