RAMALLAH, August 19, 2013 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Arabic daily al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted in its Monday issue charges by the Palestinian Authority (PA) accusing Israel of trying to undermine the negotiations in advance by proceeding with settlement activities.
The conditions in Egypt continued to be top front page story in the other two dailies, al-Ayyam and al-Quds.
The headline of the main front page story in al-Quds read: “38 members of the Muslim Brotherhood died from suffocation in Abu Za’bal jail.”
They printed photos of the security measures in Cairo and around Tahrir Square in preparation for a protest called for by the supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida featured news about Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah signing a $148 million budget support agreement with the US government.
Al-Quds reported on Israeli settlers taking over a land in al-Khader, in Bethlehem, and planting it with hundreds of olive trees in order to claim ownership.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted President Mahmoud Abbas receiving Prince Ali Bin Hussein, chairman of the West Asia Football Federation, in the presidential headquarters in Ramallah.
