PA Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank, Jerusalem

RAMALLAH, October 4, 2015 (WAFA) – The Palestinian government condemned the recent Israeli political and security escalation in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

In a statement Sunday, the government asked the international community and the United Nations to intervene to compel Israel to stop its violations in the Palestinian occupied territories, the recent of which were the killing of two Palestinians in Jerusalem, as well as the military offensive in multiple Palestinian cities.

The PA considered the Israeli escalation to be an obstacle to ongoing peace efforts and the two-state solution.

Situation has became volatile across the West Bank and Jerusalem recently in the aftermath of the Israeli attempts to divide al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam’s third holiest place, between Muslims and Jews.

The terror arson attack on the Dawabsheh family home near Nablus two months ago also ignited tensions in the West Bank.
