Palestinian Shot, Dozens Suffocate in Hebron Clashes

HEBRON, October 29, 2015 (WAFA) – A Palestinian Thursday was shot with a live round while dozens suffocated during clashes that erupted with Israeli soldiers in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, after two young Palestinian were shot dead by a settler and soldiers.

Clashes erupted between Palestinians and Israeli soldiers in the Hebron localities of Bab Az-Zawiya and al-Zahed, sparked by the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Farouq Abdul Qader Sidr by Israeli settler in Ash-Shuhada Street.

WAFA correspondent reported that Israeli forces fired tear gas canisters and rubber-coated steel bullets at demonstrators, hitting and injuring a man in his foot and causing dozens others to suffer excessive tear gas inhalation.

The front windshield of a vehicle belonging to a news reporter was hit with a live round. No injuries were reported in this incident.

Several Palestinians in Ash-Shuhada Street and Tel Rumeida fainted as a result of excessive tear gas. One woman was identified as Umm al-‘Abed Salayma.

This came as dozens of guarded Israeli settlers went into a rampage in the Old City of Hebron’s neighborhoods and the vicinity of the Ibrahimi Mosque, attacking Palestinian houses, shouting obscenities and racist slogans at Palestinians passing by.
