Presidency Welcomes UN Report on Settlements

RAMALLAH, January 31, 2013 (WAFA) – The Presidency in a statement published on Thursday welcomed the United Nations human rights council’s report regarding the status of the Israeli settlements and Palestinians in the West Bank.

It considered the report to be a legal article that documents Israeli violations of the political, civil, economic, social, and cultural rights of the Palestinian people as a result of settlement activities.

The statement pointed out that President Mahmoud Abbas has repeatedly reiterated that settlement activities are crippling the possibility of achieving the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.
