RAMALLAH, August 9, 2014 – (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas discussed Saturday with Norway’s Envoy to the Middle East Peace Process Jon Hanssen Baue the latest developments in Gaza Strip.
Abbas received Baue at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah, where they also discussed the efforts to consolidate ceasefire and put an immediate end to the suffering of the Palestinian people caused by the ongoing Israeli military aggression on the war-torn coastal enclave.
Abbas underscored the importance of Norway’s efforts to convene an international conference to support the Palestinian economy and reconstruct Gaza Strip, stressing the need for maintaining coordination with the Palestinian government in this respect.
Baue emphasized the need to consolidate the ceasefire and put an end to the bloodshed, pledging support for Abbas’ efforts to preserve the lives of the innocent.
Meanwhile, Abbas received phone calls from German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Al-Arabi. They discussed the difficult situation in the strip as well as efforts exerted to achieve a ceasefire and end the suffering of its citizens.
