RAMALLAH, September 18, 2014 – (WAFA) – Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah expressed Thursday his deep appreciation to several international organizations, especially the ICRC for supporting the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip through providing humanitarian and medical aid, said the Palestinian Government Media Center in a news brief.
The Prime Minister (PM) remarks came during a meeting with the ICRC delegation, chaired by the Deputy Head of Mission for Jerusalem and the West Bank Frederique Desgrais, and attended by the Minister of Health Jawad Awwad.
The PM discussed possible ways to uplift the medical aid and humanitarian assistance to Gaza residents, and clarified that the support should focus on medicine and vaccines in addition to offering psychological treatment for children who suffer fear, panic and war trauma caused by the Israeli occupation’s war on the Strip. Moreover, the PM reasserted the urgency to transfer injured people to countries which have pledged to take on the cost of medical treatment.
Desgrais briefed the PM on the major difficulties facing the ICRC crews during and after the Israeli occupation’s war on the Strip, mainly the lack of free movement and access to some areas as well as the difficulty of entering basic supplies to the Strip.
He also confirmed the ICRC commitment to provide all forms of humanitarian aid and medical assistance to the population of the Gaza Strip.
