JERUSALEM, June 5, 2013 (WAFA) – Quartet Representative Tony Blair Wednesday congratulated Prime Minister-designate Rami Hamdallah on his new appointment.
He said that the appointment of Hamdallah as prime minister “comes at a critical juncture, with many challenges but also a real opportunity for a credible political process.”
“I look forward to working closely with him on expanding the Palestinian economy, and boosting the institution-building agenda of the Palestinian Authority in preparation for independence and the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state,” he said in a statement issued by his office.
“I believe that the viability of the future Palestinian state will depend on a strong and sustainable economy, and I believe that we need to continue to grow the economy in parallel with the resumption of political talks,” he added.
Blair saluted outgoing Prime Minister Salam Fayyad for his “enormous efforts to promote Palestinian economic prosperity and the institutions of the future Palestinian state.”
