Striking Prisoner Suspends Fast

RAMALLAH, September 4, 2013 (WAFA) – Ayman Hamdan, 32, from Bethlehem, ended Wednesday his four-month long hunger strike after reaching a deal with the Israeli authorities to reduce his administrative detention from six months to four, according to Jawad Boulus, head of the legal department in the Palestinian Prisoner Club.

He said that based on the new deal reached between Hamdan and the military prosecutor, Hamdan’s detention will not be renewed and therefore he will be released on December 22.

Israel arrested Hamdan on August 22 of last year and placed him under six month administrative detention without charge or trial, which was later renewed by six more months.

He went on hunger strike demanding an end to his arrest.
