UN Grants Abbas Heads of State Diplomatic Protocol Treatment at General Assembly

NEW YORK, September 29, 2013 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas was the first Palestinian leader to receive and be given a full international diplomatic protocol treatment that is usually reserved for heads of states at the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York on Thursday .

Abbas Sat on the General Assembly’s beige chair before and after addressing the Assembly and was also given a diplomatic protocol farewell while leaving the Assembly.

This is the first time a Palestinian leader sits on the Assembly’s chair following Palestine’s status upgrade as a non-member observer State at the United Nations on November 29th of 2012.
