UPDATE: Israel Detains Seven Palestinians, Shoots Youth during Predawn Raids

JENIN, July 22, 2015 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained overnight seven Palestinians, including a journalist and a disabled man, and shot and injured a youth during predawn raids into various West Bank districts, said local and security sources.

Israeli forces raided early Wednesday Burqin village to the west of Jenin, firing stun grenades, live ammunition and tear gas canisters towards residents, sparking clashes.

Forces shot and injured a local with a live bullet in the chest during the clashes. The man was identified as Muhammad ‘Alawna, 21, who was admitted into a local hospital for surgery on his chest.

During the raid, forces proceeded to detain a local who was identified as Muhammad ‘Atiq, who works as a journalist.

Furthermore, forces raided the eastern neighborhood of Jenin city, where they detained a Palestinian  after breaking into and ransacking his house.

The detainee was identified as Ghaleb Abu Ga‘far, 22.

This came several hours after soldiers detained a Palestinian young man from Kufr Ra‘i, a village to the south of the city.

Awab Ya‘aqba, 21, was heading to Israeli Salem military camp, west of Jenin,  to obtain a magnetic card when he was arrested by Israeli forces for purportedly possessing a knife.

Meanwhile in Hebron district, forces raided Deir Samet, a town to the southwest of the city, where they proceeded to detain a Palestinian after breaking into and ransacking his house.

The detainee was identified as ‘Ala al-Hroub, who is a student enrolled in the Hebron-based Polytechnic University.

Forces also raided the Hebron neighborhood of Ash-Shuhada Street, where they arrested Ali Shehada after breaking into and searching his house.

This came several hours after police detained Tuesday evening a handicapped Palestinian from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Ras al-‘Amud.

Khalil Abu ‘Absah, a Palestinian from the Ramallah refugee camp of al-‘Amari, was detained for purportedly hurling stones at the light rail.

In the meantime in Nablus district, forces detained a Palestinian during a raid into ‘Ureif village to the southwest of the city.

Forces raided the village, where they proceeded to detain Sharif al-Safadi, 22, son of ‘Ali, a Palestinian Intelligence Service officer, after breaking and wreaking havoc in his house.

They also raided Qusra village to the southeast of the city, where they broke into and searched several houses. No one was reportedly detained.
