Woman Detained for Purportedly Stabbing Israeli Soldier at Jerusalem Checkpoint

JERUSALEM, June 29, 2015 (WAFA) – A Palestinian woman was detained Monday after Israeli media allegedly said she stabbed a female Israeli soldier at a military checkpoint in the city of Jerusalem.

Israeli forces said that the young woman took out a knife and stabbed a female Israeli soldier stationed at the 300 road checkpoint, also known as the Bilal Ibn Rabah Mosque site or Rachel checkpoint that separates Jerusalem and Bethlehem.

The soldier was stabbed in the neck and her condition was described as moderate to serious. The suspect, in her twenties, was detained and is currently being interrogated by Israeli intelligence.

The soldier was taken to the Hadassah hospital in Ein Karem for treatment.

Other local media sources reported on witnesses as saying that forces raided the suspect’s home in the Beit Sahour locality of Ish Ghurab.
