Prisoners declare hunger strike

1600 prisoners being held in administrative detention in Israeli jails have declared an open hunger strike.

The prisoners strike will begin on 17th April, in protest against their illegal detention without charge or trial, the violent nature of their arrests and the punitive measures taken against them by the Israeli Prison Service. The Palestinian Authority minister for prisoner affairs said ‘“The situation inside Israeli prisons has become very dangerous and serious.” The mass hunger strike will coincide with Palestine Prisoners Day and the day Khader Adnan will be released.
