Army Orders Jordan Valley Families to leave their Homes

AL-MALEH, JORDAN VALLEY, September 14, 2013 (WAFA) – The Israeli military authorities Saturday informed several Bedouin families living in the northern Jordan Valley to leave their homes and move elsewhere because the army wants to carry out military exercises in that area, according to a local official.

Aref Daraghme, mayor of al-Maleh in the northern Jordan Valley, said the army told the families to be out of their homes immediately to make room for army training exercise with live ammunition.

The families, which make up around 100 people, were not told when they can return to their homes.

Daraghme expressed concern that every time the army holds training in that area, the soldiers leave behind live explosives and shells that could cause severe bodily harm to residents, particularly children, after they return to their homes.
