Erekat Urges US to Pressure Israel on Settlements

RAMALLAH, October 19, 2013 (WAFA) – The Palestinian leadership urged the United States to pressure Israel to halt settlement activities, member of the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and chief negotiator Saeb Erekat said Saturday.

He told a local radio station that Israel’s settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories create obstacles in the way of implementing a peace process on the ground.

He said that while all settlement activities are illegitimate and legally void, Washington, the sponsor of the peace process, should pressure Israel to stop its settlement activities.
