PARIS, January 17, 2013 (WAFA) – France condemned in a statement Thursday new Israeli tenders to build 198 housing units in two West Bank settlements.
French Foreign Ministry spokesman Philippe Alliot said France was particularly concerned about the impact of these two projects on the territorial contiguity of a future Palestinian state.
France called on the Israeli authorities to back down from this provocative illegal decision.
“Resuming settlement construction has a very crucial and negative effect on the trust between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, fuels tension on the ground and forms an obstacle to peace,” said Alliot.
