RAMALLAH, February 19, 2013 (WAFA) – French Foreign Ministry spokesman, Philippe Lalliot, said Monday in a statement, “We are very worried about the situation of Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike, particularly those in administrative detention, whose health has deteriorated recently.”
He called on the Israeli authorities to be sensitive to the risk of a tragic outcome and to take urgent appropriate measures
He also recalled that the French government had called several times upon the Israeli authorities to respect their international obligations towards Palestinian prisoners.
“We are closely following the development of the situation and reiterate our commitment to the implementation of the agreement concluded in May 2012 between prison authorities and prisoners,” he said.
