Germany Calls for Permanent Truce in Gaza

BERLIN, August 27, 2014 (WAFA) – German Minister for Foreign Affairs, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, stressed on Wednesday the importance of continuing negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis to reach a permanent truce that could solve the unsustainable situation in Gaza.

“It is a matter of continuing negotiations on Gaza under Egyptian brokerage. The goal remains [focused on] achieving a permanent ceasefire which would certainly find solutions to the unsustainable situation in Gaza, including a vision to resume negotiations based on a two-state solution,” said Steinmeier according to a statement by the German Media Center

“We made proposals in this regard together with our French and British partners, and we are trying to pave ways to reach a UN Security Council resolution.”
