Government Condemns Israeli Army Shooting, Killing of Palestinian near Ramallah

RAMALLAH, June 16, 2014 (WAFA) – Spokesperson for the Palestinian government Ehab Bessaiso strongly condemned, in a statement Monday, the killing of a Palestinian youth by the Israeli forces early Monday morning, calling upon the international community to put an end to Israel’s continued targeting of Palestinian civilians.

Ahmad al-Subbarin, 21, was shot in the chest with live bullets by the Israeli army forces during a predawn raid into al-Jalazoon refugee camp, east of Ramallah. Al-Subbarin was transferred to hospital where he died of his critical wounds, reported medical sources.

Two other Palestinians were also shot and injured during the Israeli raid. They were transferred to hospital for medical treatment where their condition was described as moderate.

In the meantime, Bessaiso condemned the killing of seven-year-old Ali Arour, who sustained a critical injury by an Israeli airstrike on Gaza last Wednesday and died of his wounds on Saturday.

Bessaiso considered the latest Israeli escalation, especially against children and women, a continuation of the Israeli collective punishment against the Palestinian people, hampering the international peace efforts aimed at reaching a just solution and the establishment of an independent State of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital.
