RAMALLAH, April 23, 2012 (WAFA) – The total number of guests in Palestinian hotels was 500,000, spending 1.25 million nights during 2011, Monday said a report by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS).
It said that 37% of guests were from European Union member states, 11% were Palestinian, and 9% were from US and Canada.
The number of hotel guests grew between 2001 until 2010, but were lower by 12% during 2011 compared with the previous year.
Room occupancy was 26% in 2011; 42% in Jerusalem, 35% in the Middle of the West Bank, 21% in the North of the West Bank, 15% in the South of the West Bank, and 4% in Gaza Strip hotels.
The hotels operating within the Palestinian Territory in 2011 were: 8 hotels with 185 rooms and 508 beds in the northern West Bank; 27 hotels with 1,279 rooms and 2,776 beds in the central West Bank; 28 hotels with 1,478 rooms and 3,079 beds in the Jerusalem Region; 28 hotels with 2,050 rooms and 4,341 beds in the south; and 12 hotels with 536 rooms and 985 beds in the Gaza Strip.
