JENIN, September 17, 2013 (WAFA) – Israeli soldiers Tuesday opened fire and fatally wounded Islam Husam Toubasi, 19, in Jenin refugee camp during an attempt to arrest him, according to family members.
Toubasi, who is allegedly a member of the Islamic Jihad, was arrested and taken to a hospital inside Israel where he was later reported dead.
Toubasi’s brother, Kamal, told WAFA that special forces of the Israeli army blew up the door to their house and went inside shooting in all directions.
The soldiers then went on the roof, where Islam was asleep, and shot him in cold blood, he said.
“They dragged him bleeding to the street where one of the soldiers shot him again in the leg. Then he was put in an army jeep and taken away,” said Kamal.
Jenin camp residents confronted the soldiers during their raid of the camp and clashes broke out.
The soldiers fired live ammunition at the residents injuring a number of them, including children, according to the Red Crescent ambulance service.
Islam’s brother, Ahmad, was assassinated by the Israeli army in 2006 and he has another brother, Said, who is serving 32 life terms in Israeli jails.
