Israeli forces Detain 17 Palestinians in Extensive West Bank Predawn Raids

JERUSALEM, April 14, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Thursday launched an extensive predawn detention campaigns across a number of West Bank districts, detaining at least 17 Palestinians, including nine above 50 years old, said WAFA correspondent, security sources and an activist.

In Jerusalem district, Israeli police at least 11 Palestinians, mostly elderly and patients, after breaking into and ransacking their houses across the district.

The detainees were identified as Taher Arafa, 63, Mithqal al-Qaq, 70, Akram Sharafa, 45, Sa’id Sumrein, 70, Omar Sumrein, 59, Tawfiq Gheith, 60, Mousa al-Julani, 63, Ribhi Ghousheh, 63, Na’im al-Syuri, 60, Abu-Wesam al-Rajabi, 62, and Sufyan Jadallah, 50.

Police also reportedly stormed the family house of Abu-Khader Abu-Sneineh, 72, and handed his family an order to detain him.

This came days after Jewish settlers resumed their provocative tours into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound responding to calls by Jewish organizations for mass visits to mark the beginning of the Jewish Passover holiday.

To the south of Jerusalem, in Hebron district, forces detained three Palestinians during a predawn raid into Dura town, south of Hebron.

Forces detained Mustafa Safi, 36, Jamal al-Awawdeh, 42, and Ahmad Abu-Hashhash, 19, after storming and ransacking their houses in the town.

Local anti-settlement and wall activist Muhammad Awad said that forces broke into and ransacked two establishments belonging to Mahmoud ‘Adi and Eyad al-Lahham during a predawn raid into Beit Ummar town, north of Hebron.

As forces ransacked the two establishments, they seized two surveillance camera recorders.

Meanwhile, forces detained three Palestinians and stormed several houses across the northern West Bank district of Nablus.

They raided Balata refugee camp, east of Nablus, where they detained Muhammad al-Tirawi, 26, and Ahmad Ja’arim, 19.

During the raid, forces stormed and searched the family houses of Muhammad al-Tirawi, Rami al-Tirawi and Feras al-Rayyan.

They also detained Anas Hamdi, 26, during a predawn raid into al-‘Ayn refugee camp, west of Nablus city.
