Israeli Forces Detain 26 Palestinians in West Bank Raids

NABLUS, February 25, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces overnight detained at least 26 Palestinians during raids into several West Bank districts, said security sources and a local activist.

Forces detained eight Palestinians from Nablus, three others from Jenin district, four others from Tulkarem district, five others from Hebron district, another from Bethlehem district, another from Ramallah district and four others from Jerusalem.

In the northern West Bank district of Nablus, Israeli forces detained three Palestinians after breaking into and ransacking their houses in Madma village, south of the city.

The detainees were identified as Wahid Ziyada, 25, Shahid Ziyada, 30, and Muhammad Qut, 27.

Forces also detained two Palestinians after storming and tampering with the contents of their houses in Awarta town, southeast of the city.

The detainees were identified as Abdul-Rahman al-Jabali and Walid Abidat, 27.

Forces also detained Muhammad Hajja, 20, during a predawn raid into Einabus town, south of the city.

Another Palestinian from al-Badhan village, northeast of the city, was detained after he turned himself to Israeli intelligence in Tulkarem. He was identified as Odai Balayta, 21.

Another Palestinian, identified as Mundhir Ishtayyeh from Beit Furik village, southeast of the city, was detained by police in Jerusalem purportedly for lack of work permit.

In the nearby Jenin district, forces detained three Palestinians during a predawn raid into Qabatiya town, south of the city.

The detainees were identified as Ibrahim Khuzaimiya, Zedan Nazzal, and his brother, Emran.

Emran was reportedly released after being held for several hours.

In Tulkarem district, forces detained four Palestinians after storming and ransacking their family houses in Tulkarem city and Bal’a town, east of the city.

The detainees were identified by local branch of Palestine Prisoner’s Society as Mu’ath Barabra, 27, Mahdi al-Hajj, 24, both from Bal’a, Mus’ab al-Najdi, 24, and his brother, Muhammad, 28, from the city.

In the southern West Bank district of Hebron, Israeli forces detained at least five Palestinians during extensive detention raid across the district.

The detainees were identified as Ehab al-Qawasmi, Mahmoud al-Za’arir, Abdul-Hadi Abu Eisha, Muhammad Abu Safiyya and Tamer Yaghmour.

To the north of Hebron, in Bethlehem district, Israeli forces detained a Palestinian identified as Muhammad Salah, 25, during a predawn raid into al-Khader town, south of the city.

In the central West Bank district of Ramallah, forces re-detained at least a Palestinian after storming and breaking into his family house in Beit Rima town, northwest of the city.

The detainee was identified as Mujahed al-Rimawi, who had been sentenced to 16 months in Israeli imprisonment.

The raid triggered violent clashes between local youths and soldiers. Two Palestinians were reportedly shot and injured.

Meanwhile, four Palestinians were detained by police from Hizma village, northeast of Jerusalem.
