JERUSALEM, July 13, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces early Wednesday shot dead a Palestinian man and injured another while they conducted a raid into Ar-Ram town, north of Jerusalem, WAFA correspondent reported.
Forces raided Ar-Ram, where they stormed and ransacked a blacksmith workshop purportedly for manufacturing arms.
Based on an AFP report, the Daily Mail reported an Israeli military spokesperson as saying that troops “spotted” a vehicle running towards them when they were conducting a “search operation” during which they purportedly “uncovered an arms workshop”.
One of the troops, who purportedly “felt in danger”, opened fire at the vehicle, in which three Palestinians were riding, killing one and injuring another.
She added that the third Palestinian, unharmed, was detained during the raid and taken for interrogation.
Various Israeli news outlets reported that the Palestinian man was shot dead after allegedly attempting to ram his vehicle into the troops.
Israeli online news outlet Ynet News said the second Palestinian was moderately wounded and has been evacuated to the hospital and that the alleged attempted car-ramming attack occurred around 3:30 am.
Voice of Palestine reporter identified the killed Palestinian as Fares al-Rishq. He said large troops cordoned off the scene, preventing Palestinians from approaching.
He stressed that the circumstances around the killing remain unclear and are largely based on the Israeli version of events.
