Israeli Settlers Destroy Olive Trees near Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, November 4, 2013 (WAFA) – Israeli settler vandalism of Palestinian land during the olive harvest season continued on Monday with the destruction of dozens of olive trees in the Bethlehem area village of Husan.

Member of Husan village council, Taha Hamamreh, told WAFA that settlers from Bitar Elite, built on expropriated land from Husan, Nahalin and Beit Fukin, cut down 40 olive trees from an 8-dunum lot that belongs to Shaer family located inside the settlement.

He said the landowners got into a fight with the settlers until Israeli soldiers intervened on behalf of the settlers and detained Munawar Shaer for several hours.

Hamamreh said the soldiers and settlers regularly prevent the Palestinian landowners from reaching their land to cultivate it in order to eventually take it over.
