RAMALLAH, February 18, 2016 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused in their Thursday issue on the Israeli authorities’ demolition of agricultural and industrial structures in al-Issawiya, an outskirt of Jerusalem.
They said the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem demolished a number of Palestinian-owned agricultural and industrial facilities in al-Issawiya, in preparation in to establish a national park to serve Israeli settlers.
Meanwhile, al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Quds said President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in South Korea in an official three-day visit.
Al-Quds said Palestinian teachers in the West Bank continued their open-ended strike for the third day in a row in protest of receiving an unrewarding cost-of-living allowance.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said Hanan Al-Hroub, a primary class Palestinian teacher, has been shortlisted to the top 10 international teachers nominated for the one million dollar 2016 Global Teacher Prize, organized by the Varkey Foundation.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said the Palestinians continued their non-violent rallies in multiple West Bank cities in support of journalist Mohammad al-Qiq, who has been on hunger strike for 85 days in protest of being detained by Israel without a charge or trial.
