Jerusalem Municipality Demolishes Building in Beit Hanina

JERUSALEM, October 29, 2013 (WAFA) – The Israeli municipality of Jerusalem demolished Tuesday a four story building in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Beit Hanina under the pretext it was built without a permit.

Owner of the building, Amin Shweiki, said a large police force closed off the area before three bulldozers proceeded to demolish the building without any prior notice.

He said the building was completed 10 years ago and was inhabited by about 20 people.

He said he tried several times to obtain a building permit without any success in spite of the heavy fines he had to pay.
